Loved it. Set up my hammock overlooking the lake off the blue blazed trail.
Went for a casual Mt. bike ride using the yellow and red trails. The other trails are for hiking only. The scenery was nice, there were many water views.
There's an awesome swimming hole here. I was surprised to find it in the middle of CT. It reminded me of a fresh water springs in Puerto Rico but obviously with less clear waters. There were spots to jump off rocks into the water but for the most part, it was shallow- about 4 to 5 feet. I can gove an exact location, but it was under a bridge.
How can I not give a beautiful piece of land, with trails, meadows, and a lake you can study the sky with five stars? It's well maintained grounds with friendly people to encounter every day. You want to bring peace to your soul, Mansfield Hollow Dam is a good place to start.
Will definitely be doing some more exploring there
A lovely park with trails, open fields, a boat launch, and more. My wife and I walk atop the dike up to the dam itself (and nice view), and then to a path that runs along the shore for a while before looping back to the dike. We'll usually encounter other friendly walkers, some with dogs. Once in a while, there'll be an event--a cross country race, a fishing tournament. On Sundays we'll see the occasional RC airplane.
